Establishing energy-efficient showrooms

In 2012, Toyota Motor Thailand announced a brand new eco-initiative – the Eco Dealership project. Established in conjunction with local affiliates and dealers, this initiative will oversee the development of energy-efficient, sustainable dealership outlets throughout the country.

The eco-dealership initiative was founded on two basic principles: Economy, and Ecology. Each outlet is constructed within the green guidelines from the Thai Green Building Institute, and all distributors are certified with ISO 14001 environmental standards. Each eco-dealership outlet will comprise of a showroom and service center. Buildings can be modified without disrupting the existing structures in place, but will be upgraded to include water conservation and energy-saving features. The eco-friendly structures embedded within each outlet will not only help to reduce energy consumption, costs, and carbon emissions, but will also improve upon the surrounding landscape and environment. In addition, the brand new outlets will greatly improve working conditions for staff; higher employee satisfaction and motivation will in turn lead to better service experiences for customers who visit the showrooms and service centers. The project also aims to raise awareness about eco-friendly design and construction among local businesses.

Toyota has constantly strived for the integration of corporate social responsibility and sustainability at each stage of the value chain and operations. The development of eco-dealership outlets is but one branch, in a long line of projects to enhance and conserve the environment.
