As Toyota continually strives toward achieving a greener environment, Toyota’s “One Car, One Tree” program headed to Dewi Mangrove Sari along of the northern coast of Berebes, Central Java in March 2018. Setting out with the objective of planting a tree for every vehicle manufactured, PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) alongside NGO representatives and government officials managed to plant over 70,000 mangrove trees.
Targeting a mangrove that has been facing constant coastal erosion, Toyota believes that this will help conserve the mangrove. With the newly planted trees providing a stronger foundation for the soil, Toyota hopes that this initiative will also help better conserve plants and provide wildlife in the area with a natural habitat.
Through the strengthening of the bond that Toyota has with regional conservation communities, NGOs, and the Indonesian government allows Toyota to help play a part in the conservation of crucial ecosystems within the country.
