Using technology to promote the benefits of eco-driving

Toyota Motor Corporation Australia (TMCA) recently embarked on an eco-drive telemetry project, in a bid to raise awareness about the environmental benefits of eco-driving. A telemetry trial is conducted by affixing measurement instruments to a vehicle, in an effort to record and analyse its performance.

For this project, TMCA equipped three Lexus vehicles (namely the ES300h, ES350, and the GS300h models) with advanced telemetry systems, and tested each car’s overall eco-driving capability. The data, readings, and driver feedback collected will contribute towards the development of public awareness programmes – these will educate the public about the importance of conscious eco-driving, and how this can directly bring about positive change to the environment and climate.
